How to buy and use Claude Code in Vietnam: 3 options

There are three ways to use Claude Code in Vietnam: an Anthropic Claude Pro/Max subscription, an Anthropic API key paid per token, or a monthly plan from an intermediary service such as RocketKey. The first two are paid to Anthropic directly and usually need an international Visa/Mastercard. RocketKey charges in VND through VietQR and gives you a daily USD allowance.

1. Anthropic Claude Pro or Max

Anthropic's subscriptions include Claude Code. You sign in with your Anthropic account; there is no API setup.

• Good for: people who mostly use Claude Code, have an international card and want every Claude Code feature (including Remote Control and voice dictation).
• Keep in mind: usage is limited per session and per week. When a limit runs out, Claude Code shows You've hit your session limit and waits for the reset.

2. An Anthropic API key

You create an API key in the Anthropic Console, usually prepay credit with a card, and pay for the tokens you use.

• Good for: people who need the API in several tools or in their own apps and want to pay exactly for what they use.
• Keep in mind: the cost is not fixed, and long agent sessions can use many tokens. Topping up needs an international card.

3. A RocketKey monthly plan (VietQR)

You buy a 30-day plan by VietQR bank transfer, get an API key within minutes and use it in Claude Code, Codex, Cline or Cursor.

• Good for: developers in Vietnam without (or not wanting to use) an international card, who want a fixed cost in VND or one key for several tools.
• Keep in mind: the allowance resets at 00:00 (GMT+7) and does not roll over. Only Claude models are offered for now. Claude Code's Remote Control and voice dictation do not work through a gateway. • You have an international card and only use Claude Code: an Anthropic Pro/Max plan is the simplest.
• You need the API for your own app and use it unevenly: an Anthropic API key, paid per use.
• No international card, a fixed VND cost, several tools: a RocketKey monthly plan.
