Error 402 ExceededBudget: daily cap reached, when it resets

Error 402 ExceededBudget means your plan's daily USD cap is used up. It resets at 00:00 (GMT+7). Also covers error 422 for invalid requests.

Updated 20 Oct 2026

Error 402 (ExceededBudget, Budget has been exceeded) means the day's total request cost has reached your plan's daily USD cap. Requests are refused until the cap resets.

402 ExceededBudget

Cause
The plan's cap for today is used up (at the prices on the Models page).
Fix
Wait for the reset at 00:00 (GMT+7), or move to a plan with a higher cap.

When does the cap reset?

Every day at 00:00 Vietnam time (GMT+7). Unused cap does not roll over. The Dashboard shows today's usage and the reset time.

Why can the last request go slightly over?

A request's exact cost is only known when it finishes. A request already running when the cap is reached still completes, so the day's total can end slightly above the cap. You are not charged extra for it.

Getting more out of your cap

  • Use a cheaper model for simple tasks; compare prices on the Models page.
  • In Claude Code, type /clear when switching tasks so a long history is not re-sent.
  • See Pricing to estimate which plan fits your usage.

Error 422: invalid request

Error 422 is unrelated to the cap: the request has an invalid parameter (the model doesn't support it, max_tokens above the model's limit, malformed messages).

422 Unprocessable Entity

Cause
A request parameter is not valid for the selected model.
Fix
Lower max_tokens below the model's max output (see its Models page), or switch to a model that supports the feature you use.
